2022 OPGI Cover Car: 1970 GTO

Each year the OPGI Marketing team is tasked with choosing a cover car for their 11 annual Restoration and Performance parts catalogs. With so many beautiful customer cars to choose from, it can be a tough task. This year the team reached out to Honorable Craig Kamanasky out of San Bernardino, California. The team was hopeful that he’d be interested in having his 1970 GTO Judge appear on the cover of our 2022 GTO Catalog covering 1961-73 GTO, LeMans & Tempest models. Needless to say, Craig was honored.

Craig’s 1970 Pontiac GTO was built at the Pontiac plant in Fremont California and bought new in Westminster California. In 2019 Craig completed a Concours nut and bolt rotisserie restoration on the rust-free body.

Refinished in factory-correct Pepper Green paint, this rarer 1970 GTO Judge also comes with a factory-correct Interior with a set of OPGI’s “GTO” logo floormats, and a highly detailed undercarriage. Just a few of the many reasons we had to have this GTO on the cover.

It was earlier this year that Craig made the trip from San Bernardino to Seal Beach California for his GTO’s photo shoot. It was a beautiful day and we were able to capture some great shots.

Recently Craig made another trip to OPGI Headquarters for the OPGI Classic Car Show. Craig was invited to display his 1970 GTO in our VIP section of the show, with a few other very pristine GM Classic cars. You can spot them all in our car show recap video on Youtube.

A fun fact about Craig is that he too is a Judge, well a retired Superior Court Judge now, and if you didn’t catch his personalized plates already check them out above. Some of his friends would refer to Craig as a “Hanging Judge”, so it was a given to name his Judge, “Hanging”. Tough Judge!

Hope you enjoyed our OPGI Cover Car feature. Stay tuned for more and don’t forget to visit opgi.com to see our selection of restoration and performance parts available for your GM Classic.
