Cutlass Revival: Dalton O’Neal’s 2023 SEMA Project

Cutlass

Original Parts Group (OPGI) proudly supports Dalton O’Neal’s 2023 SEMA Build – a 1967 Cutlass destined for the Battle of the Builders competition. Following his 1971 AMC Javelin debut last year at SEMA, Dalton is gearing up for another awe-inspiring showcase. With his father, Randy Oneal by his side and under the guidance of Darin Smith of DWS Classics, Dalton’s journey in the automotive world is marked by his mentorship and passion for cars.

Earlier this year when Dalton reached out to OPGI for assistance with his Cutlass restoration, we were impressed by his dedication to the Javelin as well as the new project’s potential, so we jumped on board. Additionally, this project received significant sponsorships from industry leaders such as Mickey Thompson, FiTech, Black Widow, and ECM for the engine.

The RESTOPARTS® products supplied by OPGI will play a vital role in restoring the Cutlass. Our contributions to this project include key components, such as a front armrest base pad kit, dash pad & glove box kit, fuel tank kit, body bushing set, and a comprehensive stage 1 seal kit including essential seals like trunk seals, door seals, glass run channel seals, vent window seals, and window felts. Additionally, we equipped Dalton’s project with a premium Performance Parts Brand chrome-plated steering column with a floor shift configuration, that will be complemented by a shifter top plate

Our armrest base pad kit reflects our commitment to quality. It boasts a premium chrome-plating process that ensures a lasting, brilliant finish and includes reproduced molded urethane pads. These pads not only capture an authentic appearance but also provide outstanding durability, making them an excellent fit for Dalton’s Cutlass.

The dash pad for Dalton’s Cutlass features a rigid inner structure and correct-molded contours, ensuring an exact fit and long-lasting durability. Reproduced with high-quality ABS material, it mirrors the factory equipment, delivering an authentic appearance. This pad comes complete with original-style mounting hardware for hassle-free installation, making it a valuable addition.

Dalton noticed that the fuel tank, along with the straps and hardware, needed an upgrade. He opted for our top-quality RESTOPARTS® fuel tank kit, which features premium components reproduced in your choice of materials—stainless steel, galvanized steel, or Ni-Terne steel. This ensures both durability and corrosion resistance, guaranteeing that Dalton’s 1967 Cutlass will not only look fantastic but also perform reliably on the road.

Dalton opted for the chrome-plated Premium Performance Brand tilt wheel floor shift column, boasting a 2″ outer diameter tube, a 1″ DD shaft, and brand-new internal components.

Adding to the interior restoration, we supplied high-quality front door panels by Distinctive Industries. These panels are exact replicas, carefully recreated using Madrid grain vinyl. Notably, they feature elegant horizontal and vertical pleats, complete with precisely placed perforated mounting holes that will guarantee an easy installation for Dalton.

The latest shots above recently shared by Dalton promise a remarkable transformation, and OPGI is thrilled to announce that the Cutlass will be on display at OPGI’s SEMA booth #23889. As the anticipation continues to mount, there is no doubt that this project will seize the spotlight and catch the attention of automotive enthusiasts and media alike.

Stay tuned for the grand unveiling of Dalton’s 1967 Cutlass at SEMA—a tribute to automotive artistry and OPGI’s commitment to excellence.
