Vinny Costa’s ’72 Monte Carlo

Most automotive enthusiasts may recognize the name Vinny Costa, an editor that focuses on automotive features for digital magazines such as Chevy Hardcore and Street Muscle. Last year Vinny stopped by our SEMA booth and chatted with us about the ’70 Chevelle OPGI had displayed and ended up writing up a nice feature on it entitled, “OPGI Scores a touchdown”.

Earlier this year Vinny approached OPGI about a sponsorship opportunity with his project car, a 1972 Monte Carlo he called, “Snake Eyes” because like most classics it was always a “gamble” taking it out on the road. His plan was to write up a series of how-to features showcasing OPGI products, like Quarter Panels, Inner Fenderwells, Carpet, Weatherstripping, and more.

Fun fact about this particular Monte Carlo is that David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan contemplated purchasing it for use on their hit show, Roadkill. The Monte was to be stripped of its fiberglass body and built into the famous “Nascarlo” but the guys ultimately decided that it was in way too good condition to be torn apart.

Needless to say, Vinny ended up being the proud owner of “Snake Eyes” and Original Parts Group is happy to be a part of this DIY project car. Check out his first editorial featuring OPGI parts on Street Muscle and stay tuned because there are more to come.

Why don’t you guys have more parts for the 73 – 77 A body GM vehicles . Not everyone has a 68 – 72 A body. The 73 – 77 A-body are really coming on strong with more cars available & a different mind set by car enthusiasts. I have had this vehicle for 25 years 76 Chevy Laguna and have kept it in great shape with an engine change and a 200R4 transmission & 3.43 rear posi. Track.

Thank you for your feedback, we understand the market is lacking for these vehicles, and each year we express our customers concerns to our suppliers and hope they continued to bring more to the table. Our sourcing department is on the constant lookout for new vendors to further expand the coverage in this division.

We hope this information is helpful.
