The 1966 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham is the Cadillac of Cadillacs. The Brougham package gave its owners many luxurious options including a vinyl top, adjustable reading lamps, and rear footrests, not to mention its most talked about feature, rear picnic tables! Along with those luxuries and the infamous overlooked trunk, Mike Sarnataro found himself the perfect ride when he found his Fleetwood.
A few years ago, Mike was looking for a second car for his family and came across a Classic Car that he had always wanted, a Satin Black 1966 Cadillac Fleetwood. Not only did he find his dream car, but it was in pristine condition, making a smooth commute from Las Vegas, Nevada to Sunny California with 91k original miles on it.
Unable to work with a disability that requires the use of a mobility cart, and with his wife working, the family needed a second car so that Mike could accommodate his children’s school drop-off, pickups, and errand running. With its luxuries, the Fleetwood would make it more comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable for not only Mike who was able to store his mobility cart in the trunk, but also for his kids who love to use the famous picnic tables to hold their tablets.
Though the Fleetwood was the perfect fit, Mike soon regretted the Satin Black paint. Not only did he feel it took away from Fleetwood’s originality, but any little scuff mark or scratch was visible and near impossible to get rid of. All considered Mike plans to have it painted glossy black.
With a paint job in the near future, Mike would like to also replace the Fleetwoods vinyl top. He has known about Original Parts Group for a while now, but with the car’s condition, there was no restoration required. However, like any Classic Car enthusiast, Mike has quickly learned that there will always be something that needs to be fixed/replaced with his Classic and that is where we come in.
OPGI offers a reproduction vinyl top that has been identically manufactured to OEM specifications using top-quality, Haartz fleece back, and vinyl roof topping. Each top is patterned from original factory blueprints and features dielectrically heat-sealed seams that will prevent leakage and rust on Mike’s freshly painted Cadillac.
Amongst a few other parts, Mike will also be replacing the Cadillac’s outside mirror with our RESTOPARTS® branded reproduction mirror which can be found at OPGI.com along with our entire selection of restoration parts and accessories for your Fleetwood.
