The Oldsmobile 4-4-2: W30 Option

The Oldsmobile 4-4-2 was produced between the 1964 and 1987 model years and became a model in its own right from 1968 to 1971. All standard 1968 4-4-2 engines were painted a bronze–copper color, the 1967s were topped with a fire-red air cleaner. The W-30 option (Oldsmobile's big secret in hopes of finally outdoing the GTO) came equipped with a ram-air option package. Becoming its Own: A 1978 Chevrolet Malibu

Becoming its own model in 1978, the Chevrolet Malibu began as a trim level of the Chevrolet Chevelle. In addition to the nameplate change, the 1978 Malibu model was over a foot shorter, which cut down the vehicle's weight by several hundred pounds.
