At Original Parts Group (OPGI), we love sharing our customers’ dedication and enthusiasm. Today, we’re thrilled to highlight OPGI customer Steven Crowley’s story on his Pontiac Tempest Wagon.

Originally searching for a tow vehicle for his 1968 Alfa Romeo Duetto, Steven discovered a Pontiac Tempest Wagon with the front end restored to resemble a GTO. Over the past two years, he has dedicated countless hours to enhancing this classic car.
Steven focused on performance during the engine rebuild. Consequently, the 461 Pontiac big block now delivers 507 horsepower and 570 lbs of torque, providing the Pontiac Tempest Wagon with plenty of muscle. The car came with a 5-speed Tremec gearbox installed by the previous owner. Steven redid the transmission tunnel to ensure a perfect fit.

In addition, he upgraded to a tubular suspension with enhanced sway bars to improve handling. The Pontiac Tempest Wagon rides on 16-inch American Racing 5-spoke wheels with BFG tires, ensuring a smooth and stable ride.
For superior control and safety, Steven installed 4-wheel disc brakes from Baer. Significant updates include new carpets and GTO bucket seats, creating a fresh and comfortable cabin in the Pontiac Tempest Wagon. One challenging modification involved fitting a GTO console to accommodate the Tremec shifter lever originally designed for a Muncie transmission.

Moreover, Steven added a hidden trailer hitch behind the license plate and electric brake controls mounted under the dash. A custom graphic piece covers the original A/C control hole, adding unique touches. The dashboard of the Pontiac Tempest Wagon features GTO trim pieces. Additionally, the car is equipped with a tilt column and a Pontiac wood wheel, blending classic style with modern convenience.

Finally, the Tempest Wagon is painted in a striking orange called “The Great Pumpkin,” ensuring it stands out wherever it goes. Although a few updates are planned, this wagon is already a stunning example of dedication and attention to detail.
