There is nothing we love more than seeing the dedication of our customers to their classics. One of our long time customers Mike Montanari (aka Monty) is a perfect example of this. Check out the story below to see how Monty’s love for his GTO got him started with his own YouTube channel.
While in flight school for the US Navy, Monty’s dad purchased the Goat brand new in ’69. The 4-speed was the car that Monty learned how to drive in. Years went by and the GTO sat and began to deteriorate. Once Monty had bought a home with a garage he decided he was going to get his dad’s GTO back in shape, thus began “Project Green Envy”
The car was originally born with a 400 cu. in. motor, four-speed Muncie M20, 3:55 rear end with Midnight Green paint and gold interior since then Monty has made some modifications. He changed the paint color to a darker green he refers to as “2am Green” and kept the gold interior, along with the same 400 block bored and stroked to 467 cu. in. Mated to the same M20 transmission and re-built 3:55 rear end. The car has been lowered about 3″ with coil overs front and rear, along with 14″/13″ Wilwood Brakes front/rear, as well as other performance parts.
Monty learned just about everything in regards to working on his car by watching YouTube and other social media influencers. So he decided to pay it forward by creating his own YouTube called “Fast Monty’s Garage”. Monty has been filming everything including mini-projects on his ’69, road trips, car shows, and even some autocross and track events with the GTO, or any other muscle car he can get his hands on.
