OPGI’s New Ride: 1964 Corvair Monza Spyder

Introducing our latest project car – a little-on-the rough-side 1964 Corvair Monza Spyder (turbocharged). A diamond in the rough? We think so. This is an all-original Z-Body (the letter-based platform designated by General Motors for the Corvair 500, Monza and Corsa models) hails from Long Island, NY. We purchased the car from its 3rd owner in March of this year, and had it trailered to OPGI headquarters here in Seal Beach, California.

Included in the purchase of this battle/rust worn little Spyder was a palette stacked with numerous NOS parts, most in their original GM packaging. These parts ranged from trim to mechanical components – all will be put to good use restoring this classic from 1964!

The plan is to completely disassemble the car, right here at OPGI. The body will ship out to be professionally restored and painted, more than likely back to its original paint hue of Goldwood Yellow. Every square inch of our Corvair will be restored back to its “off the assembly line” condition. Stay tuned and follow along as our progression continues!
