The Original Parts Group’s 1965 Malibu SS is complete and ready to grace the floor of the 2012 SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nevada! Parked in OPGI booth #23987, the stock black ’65 is sure to turn heads much like last year’s award winning gold ’72 Chevelle SS Convertible.
Returning to JH Restoration in Riverside, California,
the ’65 underwent a full frame-off restoration as Joel and the crew stripped, media-blasted, and went to work installing everything from new quarter panels, trunk pan, hood and fenders.
With the first stage completed, the ’65 Malibu was loaded onto a truck and sent to Starside Design for body work and paint. Doug Starbuck of Starside massaged the body and applied stock black paint. Under the hood, sits a completely rebuilt factory 327 engine. Joel enlisted the help of Sihilling Metal Polishing for the polishing and plating of key components. Back at JH, the re-assembly continued with hundreds of new parts from OPGI, fresh glass from JR Glass and NOS bias ply tires from Lucas Classic Tires.
